I'll let you know tomorrow if you can send it out. They're just small buds, two of them.

Hi ev1

Ok its been 11 days since I started an attempt @ using cement 2 pollinate my Gymnocalycium and now its almost a week since the flower closed, this evening as was closing the lounge window I noticed that the dried flower had fallen off, I am not sure if it made seeds in such a short time? If I touch the pod like fruit it feels dry, should I leave it in the window place 2 dry out another week? I am not sure wat 2do next I don't want 2 open it and its not ready? I can't wait 2 open it and see if there is seeds lol but will wait for conformation 4rm some 1, thanks for reading and all advice in advanced :) .

Hey PermieGing

Thanks for the reply, I was also thinking that, should I leave it by the window with light or in a shaded place? Thanks again for the help.

Hey NW

The flower closed about 3 weeks ago and the flower/fruit feel off about 2 weeks ago, I still said I was shocked as u told me it takes about 2 weeks and it feel off in1, I then asked wat should I do open it or let it dry more, so I let it go just over a week by my computer and opened it this morning 2 find nothing :( I was sad but @lst it was a attempt!! I will try ash next time mixed with pollen, will update this post when I get around 2 trying that, thanks for all the help and reading.

Maybe just try pollen by itself.  I'm not sure if gymnocalycium are self fertile, but I know lophs are. I never have to do anything special to polinate them. I just put the polen on the stigma and voila... a fruit will form.

Slightly off topic but,

Would seeds from a lophophora cacti which were created as a result of self-pollination essentially be clones since all the genetic material is from the mother plant?

I believe so. I think there is a little bit more genetic variation than there would be when just taking a pup off though, but I'm not really completely sure on that. I'm growing some self polinated seeds right now and they all germinated. They seem pretty stable and I'll keep an eye on them to see if there's any variation in the seeds.
