Hello Plant Lovers
« on: October 29, 2013, 04:21:51 PM »

Many Greetings from Europe,

I'm very interested in the concept of sustainability. Recently I quit eating meat and discovered all the regional vegetables to which I now have a relation and which are delicious. Growing these would be even more awesome than just eating them but I currently have no garden to plant these and the winter is coming. I could however cultivate some plants under UV-Light maybe even make a terrarium with exotic plants ? idk yet.. Having some Cacti would be nice. I had a huge Datura Brugsmania in my Garden at the last place I lived but it was just one and I couldn't make her seed.. I had some Salvia Divinorum which was the first plant I saw with quadratic stems :D Having these Plants/living things grow and taking care of them was a wonderful experience and I miss my huge Datura which after the last cut down never reached back her Glory and now rests at my stepfathers place..

The reason I'm here is that I want to learn about cultivating interesting plants and get to know some perspectives in which to grow, and how to grow them.

As well as the obvious sharing of seeds :D

I added some plant Porn :)

Welcome to STS lime!

You should get into cacti. They're wonderful.

Lots of plants in the mint family have quadratic stems; Salvia, Dagga, Mint, etc

Welcome to the forum! If you fill out your grow/share/wish lists on your profile page it will be a lot more easy for others to trade with you. :)

Hello limes and thank you for joining :)

If you want to start growing but you don't own a garden or a yard, you'll see there's many possibilities for indoor gardening. The requirements for lights and space depend on what you want to grow, but you'd be surprised at how many species are doable. And a terrarium (a micro-climate) would be needed only if you want to grow plants that are not close to their requirements for thriving. Take your time to read and learn, hope to see you around the forums.

Welcome back to gardening and to STS,

Hello again :)

Thanks for the warm welcome !

I would love to get into Cacti and I would also like to have a Mimosa Bonzai or a Iboga plant which seems to be the most difficult. There's so much reading to do, so much to learn. I don't really know where to start but it's @ zero. No pots, soil or seeds (except for bone dry syrian rue)..

Awesome !! Do you think dried Syrian Rue seeds are worth sharing ? they are still in their bag and half a year at least old.. ? Guess they are pretty much all dead, right ?

Yes! All seeds are worth sharing. They may have lost some viability but I don't think they'd be dead. Only one way to find out though! ;)

I would test them out to see if they're viable.  No point in sending out those seeds if they aren't viable when you could be using them for other purposes.
