I am trying to write out a semi complete guide to surviving extermination, enslavement and exploit because they are building blocks of Parasite behavior; while my focus is general the principals apply to plants, pests, and infections. Here is an example: The Zika Mosquito; it looks vega-black with bright white dots.  It carries the virus called "Zika Virus" and looks camoflauged. Females lay eggs into the bloodstream of warm blooded anamalia and more. Warm blooded mammals are one option. others aare a pool of stagnant water.  Mammals go onto (likely urinate-out por transmit or expel a larvae stage or a number of micro-organisms. they pre-date Nazis and colonialism and have survived along with other primordial insects. Bats keep them in check and so do many plants such as Shepherds Purse (Will try to explain that the common names are important; they are Latin)

The farmer or gardener cannot produce their own off spring because they are all perfect hosts. Males and females make good hosts. Furthermore carnivorous, omnivorous, and herbivorous (Meat/fauna devouring, both plant/flora devouring and plant/flora devouring, & lastly plant/flora devouring ) Bat species all affect Mosquito populations in some form or another through proliferating various affects and consequences upon the Earth.
