Hello from England
« on: October 02, 2017, 03:56:21 PM »

Hello,

I've finally joined the forum and look forward to exploring it.

I have a decent sized garden with a good microclimate (also benefiting from London's urban heat island) and enjoy growing all kinds of exotics - not just medicine plants, but also ornamentals.

As for ethnobotanicals, my interests include Ayahuasca plants (have some B. caapi and P. alba), cacti, Phalaris spp., Desmanthus spp.

I used to grow Salvia d., but the plant died over winter outside. I've been looking for a replacement, but they don't seem to be available these days in the UK (seems the infamous Ban has to do with it - odd that it would affect live plants?), and they're out of stock at the Dutch vendors.

I've also germinated Mimosa hostilis seeds in the past, but the plants died after a few months.

I've grown morning glories and Argyreia nervosa.

Would love to give Acacia acuminata a try.

Salvia divinorum can sometimes withstand a light freeze if it has grown sufficiently tall to fall down and root top portions. I've seen this happen in Gainesville, Florida where it does not have horrifically cold winters. On your little Island though, I'd be hard pressed to consider growing it outdoors for more than the normal growing months. Definitely better to move indoors after that as I'm sure your already aware.

Anyhow it is good to have you on board. Welcome!
