Gardening Setup
« on: July 09, 2016, 07:21:06 AM »

Hi everybody! :)
I was just curious as to what kind of growing set up every one uses. Do you grow your plants outdoors? Indoors? Greenhouse? Grow lights? In soil? Hydroponics? Aquaponics ect. How do you propagate? seeds? cuttings? Cloning chamber? rooting hormone? I am very interested into how every one does it.

I grow plants outside in the summer and have no idea what I am going to do for the winter. I have a set of t5 lights i might use on some plants. Maybe let the cacti go dormant.  I do have a grow tent with an intake and out take fan as well as a ventilation fan and sme led lighting that I supplement with an 80watt induction bulb. Just dont have that going right now.

Care to share?
:)

I grow mostly outdoors, and living in zone 8b, I only have a short and mild winter to deal with.  My solution is a temporary outdoor greenhouse: http://sharetheseeds.me/forum/index.php?topic=3185.0

For smaller plants, I use clear storage containers on heating mats below a large window in my garage.  I'm not sure how well either of these solutions would work in a cold climate however.

Propagation depends on what I'm trying to grow.   ???  I have a better record propagating from cuttings rather than from seeds but I keep on trying to perfect both.  Other than that,  keep reading STS.  It's a story unfolding.  :)

There are many locations on my property on which I grow my plants. Outside in the yard for large, mature plants and plants that need lots of light. In the secluded patio for lower light, smaller plants. In the garage under my nursery lights for plants that don't need a lot of light. This is where I do propagation by seeds and cuttings. And finally, the lowest light plants go indoors on windowsills.
