Hello STS Community
« on: June 26, 2016, 07:06:19 AM »

:D Hello people of STS. My name is Zack and i have been quite interested in the preservation and culture of entheogenic plants and cacti. I came  across this site in a post on the DMT Nexus. i haven't been a member of many sites recently because of life reasons, but i was very intrigued to find a forum with discussion and trading of plants. I believe i can offer some basic knowledge and opinions about gardening. I have a decent amount of experience in gardening a great diversity of plant species. Ive been gardening for 7 years pretty regularly, but quit recently I've been interested in cacti, mycology, and other entheogenic materials. I am very excited to reach the trading forum as i have quite a bit of Trichicereus cutting as in 75-100 lbs worth of cuttings id love to share. Id also like to broaden my collection of plants. I am looking forward to meeting you all, this will be the first forum i will dedicate my attention to as ofthen as i can, which is pretty much all the time. Anyways thank you for considering my membership.I hope i did that right..Peace and Cacti!! ;D

PC stands for Predominant Cultivar, basically if it's a PC it's a cloned cutting from it

Thank you TBH. That clears up alot, a little discourged to find out about the Predominate Cultivar thing but im still madly in love with em hehe. Are alot of cacti in america, mainly California, considered to be PC?Ive found it difficult to find alot of variety in California nurseries,  and most pedro ive seen in person looks alot like, if not identical to the PC clone. Do they come through STS often? And are there many people who might trade different trichocereus species or are the majority of members growing these "PC" clones? I suppose i could take it upon myself to identify these clones. I really hope im not asking too much of you guys. Any help on any of my questions is much appreciated. Im working on my shed/ greenhouse and getting soil but am going to attempt to root quite a few cuttings it being summer and all. I see I'm about to start going off topic so ill end this post here. lol. Peace n Cacti STS! :)

We have lots of good cacti genetics in this community. We share and trade a lot amongst ourselves, and there are a few US (and otherwise) based vendors that sell non-PC trichos. Misplant.net, cactusaffinity.com, and cactusarizona.com are all reputable vendors with good genetics.

PC is easy to identify against nonPC pachanoi because it has a very unique look, there are no cutouts near the aereoles, no V shapes
but the areoles themselves are kind of bulges, making the whole plant have kind of a "sawtooth" look to them.
If you bought a Trich from Home Depot or Lowes or Altmans, it's almost guarunteed to be PC (also cactus kate)
if you get it from a reputable vendor, they will almost always say nonPC in the advert
unless it's got a clone name, like rosei or lumberjack

I would love to have seen the mother plant in bloom. Where there any fruits/seeds? I've always wondered what a trichocereus fruit tastes like.

Well at least now i know where to find different species. Im very interested in T. Bridgesii. I have a photo of the mother plant, was there atleast 7 year acording to residents. The flower is cropped out and i cant seem to find the picture that showed the flower but it was beautiful. I know its dried up on one of the cuttings, I'll have to look for it. How long will it take to flower if i put the bases in the ground or just rooting a cutting? Does the cycle start over and then ill have o wait 7+ years? Thanks everybody!---Also, could some body identify the cactus in the second photo with the guy wearing a red shirt is? Thanks!!!  :)
