SAP for cactus substrate?

As I´m waiting for my first trade (peyote seeds), I´m wondering if SAP (super absorbent polymer) is suitable for the substrate mix.
It may hold water while ensuring proper aeration, without harming the root system.

What type of SAP were you thinking of using? Were you thinking of using only SAP or mixing it into something else (like fine sand or coir)?. I've never heard of using it for cacti before, but if you're willing to give it a try, I'd love to see the results!

I was told the best is polyHEMA, but the most common hydrogels sodium poly acrilate/acrylamide  are ok too.
I´m thinking of a rocky sand from outdoors, mixed with a little bit worm humus and about 10g of pHEMA for water retention.
