Ecosia: the search engine that plants trees
« on: April 07, 2016, 10:42:44 AM »

Ola amigos;

This is a great option to turn our research on the web more eco-friendly and sustainable: "ECOSIA"

"Ecosia uses its search ad revenue to plant trees in Burkina Faso in Africa, bringing water, plants and animals back to drought-ridden areas. The revived land means more jobs, healthier livestock and more independent people. A stronger local economy allows both women and men to earn their own income, meaning more children can go to school. Our forests are part of the international effort to build a "Great Green Wall" across Africa for increased environmental, social and economic prosperity."

What a great idea!!

They planted more than 4 million trees around the world, also generated over 2.5 million Euros for forestry programs since our founding in December 2009.

It is compatible with chrome  and it also  encrypt all your traffic  ;)

Only good reasons to start using ECOSIA.

Happy searching!

This sounds similar to FFF's business model, raise funds with an online means to help environmental causes. Great find!

And they are also Germans just like FFF.

This is the species of trees  being planted by them:

Citrullus colocynthis
Acacia raddiana:                263 trees per hectare
Acacia seyal:                      10 per hectare
Ziziphus mauritiana:          62 per hectare
Balanites aegyptica:           59 per hectare
Leptadenia hastata:           11 per hectare
Acacia nilotica
Boscia senegalensis
Pterocarpus luscens

Next to the trees, different herb and grass species are also sown. These serve as fodder for the cattle but they also protect the slower growing trees. Some species, like the Cassia Tora  can even serve as light construction material.

This people are very committed : its goal to plant 1 billion trees by the year 2020!
