Germinating pedicularis

Anyone have any experience germinating these? I have a very small amount of P. densiflora seeds and so far I'm having the worst luck with them. I've tried cold stratifying, and then warm-cold-warm stratifying and nothing. Meh. Please help?

Looks like scarification is the best way to get them to germinate

Try to rub them on a fine grit nail file - it also looks like some species dont germinate at all without light so i would not bury the seeds

They often grow in conjunction with/ parasitically on other plants out in the wild, I imagine they need a complex growing environment in the soil... Probably lots of mycorhizzae type action.

Many thanks for the replies  :) Of the remaining seeds that I have, I've scarified half and soaked those as well as the other unscarified seeds in water for a couple of hours. Then I placed them between moist paper towel sheets then all into a baggie and on a bright windowsill for a few days. They have now all really plumped up, so should I leave them as is for a little bit longer or try planting them, maybe in a pot with another plant? I've read that they do germinate without their host plant, but don't grow very vigorously. Plus, I like the paper towel method so that I don't end up digging up the seed to try and see if anythings happening ::)

I hope it works! Please do let us know, and next year I could wild gather the seeds from several species that grow in the mountains around here...

Not to break into your post or anything, but would a soil mix of calla lily roots and coco be a suitable substrate? The rhizomes put out lots of tiny string like roots.
