Desfontainia spinosa
« on: March 28, 2015, 10:31:38 AM »

Hello all!

I ordered two plants of desfontainia spinosa some time ago and soon it will arrive. I tried germinating seeds some time ago but it always failed, so I try now with plants.

Does anybody in the forum have experience with this plant?

I hope it will be possible to make cuttings from this one so I could spread them.

Best regards

I'm surprised no one has replied to your question Borstos, so I'll chime in.

My experience with the plant has not been good. I've ordered live specimens several times and to date have not had a single one survive. It may be due to differences in climate between the supplier and me, or perhaps shock from being shipped from one side of the USA to the other, but it doesn't seem to matter how I treat them, they always die within about five or six weeks.

Not much help, I'm afraid, but that has been my experience with the plant.

Let us know how yours do, some of us are very interested in this plant. :)
