I bought a bag of King Oyster (Pleurotus eryngii) from a local vendor many months ago and recently learned that oyster mushrooms can be fruited on coir. Since I had a few bricks on hand I figured I'd give it a try.

Below is a photo of one of two mini-monos after 9 days incubating. I spawned colonised wheat seed to straight coir. Holes were covered with micropore tape during incubation. This is my first oyster grow so I'm really excited Hoping for some big and juicy clusters.

I grow those along with reishi,  you can build a log with plugs also pretty easily

Plugs and logs are definitely on my list. I see them as an incredible long-term investment. I saw some photos the other day of a guy who planted colonized straw 'logs' of reishi from bags in a trench between his pepper plants (it was in a raised bed). The pepper plants provided shape for the reishi and his yield was very impressive.

How do you usually fruit your oysters, besides logs?

I only use logs,  coir is to much of a pain. I use my gfs lab to do all my isolation and petri work.  She has an awesome flow hood,  also use chemical grade pda with  a tiny bit of antibiotics.

Kings are great and will eat almost anything,

I grow those along with reishi,  you can build a log with plugs also pretty easily

i always thought kings couldn't be grown on logs since there are soil mushrooms, they love roots of herbs, and need more nitrogen.

Better late than never  The Kings grew really well and were an absolute treat to eat!

I've been traveling a lot and haven't had much time for fungi but I hope to give these buys another go soon, this time in buckets.
