Picture is attached. Today I got a chance to cut back the small bad looking part of the vine, but can anyone identify this or know of any preventative measures to ensure this doesn't spread?

Might be mites?
What is the underside of the leaf like.
If its fungi not watering from above can help, as can copper sulphate spray.

Thanks for that link. I think most of the problem was mites as it has responded well to a baking soda/soap/water spray, but a bit might be all the rain weve had recently. The morning glories were here when I moved here and they have taken over a fence and are now climbing the trellis up the side of the house just leaving nature to water them unless it gets well over 90 degrees, so my plan as of now is just to be diligent about spraying (and spraying my green beens, where the mites have decided to relocate)

Interesting, well whatever works, I have quite a few growing over a trellis I built, I'll have to keep that in mind since you say it's working well. Good luck.
