what soil do you have success with tea plants

In a giveaway slash trade I got 8 tea plant seeds. Only at 12/03/13 did I soak them overnight and place then a half inch to an inch or so deep in moist vermiculite in a plastic container. I dug up two just now to look and see if there's progress and there was! Both I dug out have big thick tap roots! I would imagine the rest might too. Its only been like 10 days!

I'm wondering what kind of soil to move them to when potted? What works for those of you growing this plant?

I have no idea, but I'm interested too.. I've been wanting to get some of these for a while.

Good job! ;)

I just use a regular soil mixed with some organic compost and they do well on it.. 

The germination is the worst part, after that they dont need "special care" just a warm and light place.

I can vouch for the viability of Roze's seeds!!!  In fact, when they arrived, they had already germinated.. so apparently the trick to germinating them is to put them in a moist paper towel, put that in a ziplock and then send them in the mail, LOL.  Unfortunately, only one of them sprouted.. but it is growing like crazy!  Litterally the fastest grower I've got right now.

I make my own soil.  5 parts pine bark fines, 1 part peat, 1 part perlite, a dash of lime (to balance the low pH of the ingredients).. and usually an appropriate amount of fertilizer (though lately I've been using soluble when I water).  Mine is doing VERY well in this mix.
