Growing Virola spp.
« on: February 17, 2025, 06:00:39 PM »

Good day gardeners,

I am curious if anyone grows Virola species. Seems to be hard to obtain. I would be happy if someone shares some experiences.

If you're looking for a source Anderson's is great and has fresh ones: https://andersontropicals.com/products/copy-of-virola-surinamensis-ucuuba

They get humongous and are dioecious though, so they're only really viable to grow if you live in the tropics and have a lot of space.

Thank you very much blackb0x!
Great source, i stumbled upon them one time but wasnt aware they have Virola.
Phytosanitary certificate seems to be required for my region, will research that.
Seems hard to grow those trees inside in my climate.

You might be able to keep it as a large bansai in greenhouse.
