Vanilla will grow outdoors in extreme south Florida, only in frost free areas. I wouldn't try it outside anywhere that reaches the 20's

ok thanks, maybe it will grow in the future greenhouse area which should have greenhouse built around it by next year.

I agree, vanilla is pretty sensitive to frost.  they can grow a few meters a yea once well rooted outdoors though, so fast growth is certainly possible.  the winter may fudge that up though.
