Growing syrian rue in zone 9a

Hey guys,

I was just wondering if it is possible to grow syrian rue in zone 9a I see on davesgarden they say it's zone 5-8 would it be ok in 9a?

I'd say you have a shot at it , maybe a colder microsection of your property , if In pots you could give it a cold spell in a freezer for a few weeks and bring it out , they grow a little slow at first .

I think warmer is probably better, so your zone should be good.
Moisture might be a factor too, as it is a desert plant.
I started from root rhizomes, and 2 of about 5 plants regrew a little after winter, then died off and haven’t returned. Humid Zone 7/8.

I've seen syrian rue growing in 9a when I lived in St. Augustine, Florida at a local botanical garden. So, yeah... it grows there as do many plants. I've even seen Salvia divinorum growing at the local botanical garden there. Light freezes brought the S. divinorum to its knees, but it would recover in the spring.
