Terminalia ferdinandiana (kakadu plum)
« on: July 14, 2017, 06:36:51 AM »

I've been looking high and low for a tree cutting from the Kakadu plum for quite awhile.
They are from Australia and seem to be heavily guarded by the AU natives. Also seems, they are pretty much non-existent (on paper/interwebs) in the US.
If you aren't familiar with these, the small plums they produce contain 50-100x's more vitamin C than a standard orange.
I was finally able to obtain about 20 seeds from an Australian supplier about 3-4 months ago. After about 2 months we had 2 sprouts that have been going ever since. These have tap roots that run DEEP and seem to constantly need/want a deeper container.
Anyone else have luck with these guys?
Doesn't seem to be a topic on these as of yet.

I tried quite a few methods with the seeds.
The sandpaper method combined with a "Seed soak kit" I bought was the only successful method I used. Not sure what was in the kit but I'd like to know if anyone has an idea.

Here they are as of today...

Very cool plant! What vendor were you able to get seeds through? Not ready for seeds at the moment but someday in the future I may wanna give this plant a grow.

I got them from a site called herbalistics in Australia.
Took awhile to get but well worth it!
