Another plant person!
« on: July 31, 2013, 11:23:04 PM »

Hello, everybody!  It's nice to see so many people interested in plants, even over the computer.

I'm joining to share what I've learned from my plant allies, possibly extend the range of them if other people are interested in sharing, and definitely to hear from everyone else!

The plants which I can remember I'm growing at the moment are -- Ipomoea tricolor, Banisteriopsis caapi, Psychotria alba, Phalaris 'Big Medicine', Desmanthus illinoensis, Nicotiana spp., Zea mays, Solenostemon, Pogostemon cablin, Nepeta cataria, Acacia confusa, Peganum harmala, Hypericum perforatum, Ocimum sanctum, Strawberry-- and probably some others in the garden I don't think about as often.

I also have a big seed collection that I started about 2 years ago, but it would take me a while to catalog those, not to mention how viable all of them are.

My Nicotiana rustica plant (which seems to be a somewhat weedy variety) has just finished a good many seed pods.  If anyone is looking for this plant, I have plenty of seeds to trade.

Looking forward to communicating with you guys  :D

Hey arborescent,

you do have several plants in your garden we have barely discussed yet, so if you want to share your experience with them, we'll be happy to hear.

Please come in and get acquainted with the community features, and then hopefully you'll start that overdue inventory of archived seeds  ;)

Welcome to STS,

Welcome to STS my friend!

You have a very interesting grow list!  I reccomend you post some pictures of your plants in the plant gallery, or some of your seeds into the seed  gallery.

Glad to have you a part of the team!

Well, I'll have to wait till I can find a decent camera, I'm a little reluctant to post some of these pictures of terrible quality to the plant gallery.  I think I'll keep a couple here just to prove I actually do have them ;)

Edit: Wrong picture format

If you don't mind I'll add some of these to the gallery.  They aren't too bad. Is that okay?

Fine with me, so long as they're up to your quality standards.

Thanks, I really love my alba  ;D

She's about 1 year old.  I received two rooted leaf cuttings, and this one survived.  She grew little last year, small shoots take a long time to start picking up speed.  Overwintered under fluoros and LEDs, slowly growing more leaves, but totally adapted to cold and dryness.  This summer she's finally taken off, and she's probably one of the hardiest plants I have.  Slow grower, but very strong.

I've actually noticed tiny foveolae on the undersides of some of the larger leaves, which gives me hope she's a bearer of the light.  Not much is known about this plant, she seems shy to me.  I only wish my caapi plants grew as well as this one!

There's a lot of controversy as to whether or not an alba is a carth, and whether it is suitable for ayahuasca or not.  I've done a lot of forum searching and I can't find any definitive answers regarding what exactly I have here.  Mysterious plant, best to learn from directly I suppose.

Excellent. She looks happy.

Btw, cool avatar picture. Is that a morning glory or a moonflower? :)
