Had great germination with coco coir and lava sand. The seedlings seemed to do well without humidity dome but it I guess they need a little more even in South Florida. I have 1 that seems ok and will be placed in high humidity. I regret experimenting on half the seedlings as they all just died off.  perhaps would have a survivor if put them in higher humidity.

I have had ~90% germination on the seeds that I started indoor under lights with a heating pad & humidity dome.

0% germination on the ones I tried to start in my greenhouse.

I have gotten into just pulling the seed coat off by hand, breaking it along the seam with my fingernail & sliding it right off. I have not hurt a plant yet with this technique.

Finally got some seedlings again! Several have discarded the seed casing and are growing quickly. I noticed some clear worms in the substrate. They seemed to be eating the seed coat and remaining fruit. Most appear dead now. Fungus gnat larvae? When do i transplant these guys? They're touching the top of the humidity dome.

I start my novo seeds in damp sphagnum moss then transfer them to potting soil when the root is about 1/2". I let the plastic wrap stay over them until the seed coat drops off, I dont force it off though if it looks like it can't do it on its own I have to or it will die anyway.

My plants are fairly mature, about 3' tall, one or two might be 4'. I don't let them get too tall. They crank out the flowers and fruit until it gets cold which it will soon. I take them inside during cold spells.
