reccommendations for books on growing peyote & trichs
« on: December 18, 2014, 04:26:12 PM »

I'm looking to get into growing psychoactive cacti. Mainly peyote & bridgesii.
I have zero experience growing cacti so i still have alot of research to do but i do not expect to be spoon fed answers.

Can anyone reccommend some good books to start with? I'm looking at adam gottliebs book but i'd like to ideally have a collection & really get a good handle on things before i start growing anything.

The forums, while very helpful, have so much info about everything all at once i find it hard to not get ahead of myself & stay focused on a single point for long.

I'll look into it :) i see alot of info floating around othet forums about trouts notes on various things.
I see one book by adam gottlieb so far that looks interesting.
I'd like some variation though, i'll probably end up reading anything i can get my hands on.

Trout's book is purely on the Taxonomy and does not cover the horticulture side much.  I can't reccomend any books, but I can reccomend researching on the internet.  That's where you'll find the best information on growing Lophophora and Trichocereus.

P.S. The best information is experience.

New Wisdom is right, read Trout's after you get seeds started and start looking for cutting to share and trade.

The secret to most Trichs. is that they are very easy and really rewarding from seed.  I am sure you can find a give away or two here on STS.

This article by Leo Martin is really all you need to know to get started cheaply, WSS has a nice write up and plot55 as well but Mr. Martin is a real expert and the material is presented nicely.

Hope you enjoy the cacti addiction this information will undoubtedly inflict.

EDIT - Realized the Shroomery didn't like me linking to their file so hosted on my own MEGA.NZ account
