Eiffel Tower Mimosa?
« on: May 30, 2014, 03:01:52 PM »

This is probably a very dum question but I really don't know if I should do something.
Guys meet Olive Oil she is my tall skinny 2nd born Mimosa T. and she is starting to lean hard.
Do I place a support on her or leave her be?

Oh no, that looks like the beginning of floppy mimosas.

IME, you need to address it or it will get worse, and its an issue of too little/low intensity light. You can add some soil around the base to prop it some, but you need to get it under stronger or longer daily light, ideally acclimate it outside. Also, add a fan if you keep it inside as a little wind gives it some exercise.

I had 3 like that that I let progress, and they are no more. 2 of them were staked with supports to see if the trunk would strengthen with some temporary help, and when the supports were removed they were way worse than the one left without stakes.  It was like they figured they didn't have to worry about holding themselves upright anymore.  :P

The Jurema (M. tenuifolia) is a plant that likes lots of Sun, she grows naturally lying in order to increase the area of exposure to the Sun.
The only measure to be adopted is to increase the light intensity. Anyway your plant doesn't seem to be floppy.
I will post a pic of one of my juremas growing in full Sun ligth....it was larger than taller...The main stem grew to the side rather than grow up. Absolutely normal.

You guys aren't going to believe this but I took Olive Oil outside to acclimate her and it's windy as hell out so I stood there watching her and the wind was just kicking her butt I mean I thought she was going to snap, I got scared so I only let her sit for like 3 minutes and I couldn't take it anymore so I brought her in and now she's standing straight up!!!! I am going to keep taking her in and out the next few days until I feel as though she's tough enough to live on the rough streets by herself. :)

I think you meant "leaning tower of Pisa".

The eiffel tower doesn't lean.
