Hello,
I'm a bioanalytical chemist, with an avid love for all things that use chloroplasts for electron transport. I've maintained a strain of T.Panachoi since 2003, and also grow mint, common basil, jalapenos, and chiltepin. I also have a lot of dried bhut nolokia peppers.
I'd like to eventually build an arbor for my new home to grow p. incarnata, and would also like to grow some avocado and pomegranate trees.
My hobbies include essential oil steam distillation (with occasional analytical work) and music production/mixing.

 Glad to finally be here, as was suggested by some peers on another board. Cheers.

Love the name AND the hobby. Perhaps you could make a post on how to build a steam still once you get settled in? Its something I've wanted to get into for the longest time. I would love to distill some frankincense essential oil one day.

1 L and 500 mL borosilicate, 24/40 ground glass joints.
Cinnamon oil is by far my favorite to distill, it smells so good.

there are other ways of doing steam distillations, of course, like running a pressure cooker to generate the steam, connected to another vessel containing the plant material, to a condenser and collection vessel

Nice. I like the more citrusy oils like limonene. There is a lot of potential in oils. Lots of benifits.

 How much did it cost to make the still?

the distillation app (mantle and glass, used) ended up being around 200 bucks.
yes, there are many, many applications for essential oils, from perfumes to pesticides (which is why I like cinnamaldehyde).

I recently saw an article that describes the water purification properties of the plant, as it has the ability to sequester heavy metals from groundwater.
