I am looking for spores or cultures of any medicinal or edible mushrooms. Ive went the mushroom route for several years now and I want to expand into more different species than I currently grow. I will gladly trade seeds or reishi spawn? Thanks in advance!

Hey rakeandbake! That's awesome that you are trying to expand your horizons. I haven't broken out my cultures in over a year now, but if I do it soon I will let you know.

I know this isn't what you wanted, but my trick for getting good edible cultures was simply to order small amounts of spawn and culture from that. It's not ideal from a commercial production standpoint because the culture isn't... as fresh as it could be (I wouldn't recommend using it for long-term culture maintenance), but I found great success with that method and I was able to get dozens of top strains for hundreds of dollars rather than thousands or tens of thousands for my bootstrap mushroom farm. AlohaMedicinals has great seasonal multi-packs of spawn for very reasonable prices and you get the top tried and true commercial strains.

This guy is doing a great job. Paul Stamets is doing mushroom research and owns a company supplying equipment as well as cultures.

I´d throw my money at him

Paul Stamets is the man! Has many patents, a myco genius. Watch his YT videos. Sells plugs on his site. Waiting for my blue and pearl oysters, and shiitake to pop out of these old logs any day now.

Hey,

I didn't want to start my own thread but I am basically looking for a way to start growing my own mushrooms too and don't have much experience growing any (have tried once or twice years ago but it was kinda a lazy attempt)...

I've been getting into medicinal mushrooms the last few months (in contrast to the ones I was more interested in years ago) and have been taking chaga, reishi, cordyceps off and on and just started taking lions mane...

I know  reishi and lions mane are supposed to grow in my area so I am wondering... If I find some can I should be able to basically take those mushrooms, reishi for example and use them to inoculate a dead/dying tree stump or two in my yard? I have a few dead tree stumps now and a couple have mushrooms growing out of them though I'm not sure what kind (should look into that...)...


Anyways , sorry if I am barging in on this thread... Hope everyone is well!

not sure about other ways of doing it, but you can buy mushroom plugs from fungi.com, drill holes in the stumps or logs, water, and wait.

I'm just starting to get some growth out of some logs that were plugged last year. oysters, shiitake, and turkey tail.

Because I don't like waiting, ordered a bag that will produce bellas in a couple of weeks.
