I just picked up a copy of: Plants from Test Tubes: An Introduction to Micropropogation, 4th Edition
ISBN-13: 978-1604692068 ISBN-10: 1604692065

After reading it from head to tail I would really want to recommend this book to anyone who is interested in  tissue culture. It covers a lot of the basics and includes some handy diy options for first time experimentalist.

hope this inspires someone.

On the topic: Am I the only one getting mad at having supply issues. I can buy pre formulated media like M+S and derivants as well as other pre formulated media but the price is one thing and another thing is that when a procedure calls for special formula I ran into supply issues: All the fear mongering lately caused ever growing issues and raised red flags when acquiring anything that is mot common household items. God forbid it contains any nitrates or is poisonous and what not. You'll basically get stuck with searching theough spec sheets of available preformulated nutrients to come up with a way that you can put together your desired ratios from those. And more specialised hormones and the likes still become harder and harder to aquire.

Your right about supply problems on basic lab chemicals and gear, bubbles, I run into that nonsense all the time. Innovation and determination usually gets it done in the end, tho. Really old books help too, from the days when scientists couldnt buy pre-mixed culture media powder and such. The ultimate irony is that when I'm formulating specialty fertilizers or manipulating plant hormones, etc., 'totally legal' things, I have to boot up TOR and read through hardcore illicit drug synth websites to figure out good clean alternative sources for the innocent chemicals I need. Its no different than if the government put such absurdly heavy restrictions on needles that innocent diabetics have to buy their needles from heroin dealers.
That said, there are home orchid culture supply houses that sell many of the legal tissue culture supplies that major chemical suppliers would never sell to individuals. If you can stand the prices. Homebrewing suppliers also have a few useful chemicals.

Got a hardback of this book early on in college career about 15 years ago and it's still my go-to book for anything plant tissue culture related. I have yet to see a more thorough and concise source on the subject in all my travels! Treasure that book, as it will be a good resource for many years to come!
