Best way to use sulfur for mites
« on: April 29, 2017, 12:33:09 AM »

I've used sulfur quite a bit for treating wounds on cacti. Have not used it as an insecticide or repellent.  I am having some issues with mites on cacti and wondering if anyone has suggestions about how best to use sulfur to treat them. Is dust or wettable powder better? Elemental sulfur or lime sulfur?

I use elemental sulphur and apply it in one of two ways depending on the severity of the problem. The normal way is to just dust it on in the same way you would DE, the other way is to dust it on after spraying with methyl alcohol. If the problem is not severe do not use methyl alcohol as it damages the skin of the cacti, it really is a last chance option. I have never used it as a wettable powder or paste since I hate touching the stuff, my cloths always smell like rotten eggs for a week after.
