Has anyone attempted a lithops graft?
« on: June 19, 2016, 02:47:15 PM »

I have some lithops and "rock" type cacti. I would love to graft them atop pereskiopsis. To risky? Oppinions?

I have no experience with, nor have I heard of grafting with those types of cacti. I think if you have enough seedlings and pereskiopsis stock for grafting, it's worth a shot to see what works and what doesn't. It's my understanding that most cactus species can be grafted? I'm curious to see the results of that!

My success rate with grafts is pretty good. I suppose I'm just hesitant to try. My little Babies.

Lithops are succulents not cacti so pereskiopsis will not work as a grafting stock

You can attempt it but don't expect success. You would need to graft your lithops on an aizoaceae. Delosperma are pretty fast growing and might make a good stock for your lithop or another fast growing aizoaceae.

Thanks modern. +1 . I suppose I could have done the research myself, but this place is such a good resource.
