Hello STS
« on: May 11, 2016, 05:24:12 PM »

Hello everyone, my name is Anthony I am from Florida.
I have always had a strong connection to nature, and have since a young age been drawn towards the cultivation and preservation of ethnobotanical and medicinal plants and fungi of all sorts.

I am young and only 22 years old, and have only recently started to actually cultivate anything myself. As someone who is eager to learn as much as possible about the plants I love, I want to join an online community where I can share my growing endeavors with others and also be able read about all of theirs.

I also love the idea of sharing seeds, and will have some to share soon from the few plants I have growing currently.

I added some attatchments of my Hawaiian baby woodrose vine, some Papaver somniferum, and a Klip Dagga plant I have growing.

I will make seperate grow logs in future posts.
I look forward to getting to know the members on here and learn as much as I can, also I cant wait to SHARE THE SEEDS!

Sucks, but AU-OS trade isn't cost effective or reliable anymore. Aussie trade encouraged, especially for cactus, dragonfruit, and colour fruited columns.

 God I love papaver's

I see you have some success with the papaver in the florida area ! !   From reading others reports it sounds like that is quite difficult feat ?  I would love more info on how it's successfully done down their, just to get to know the species better

Growing Papaver in zone 9a is not exactly an easy thing to do, but not that difficult, poppies love cold weather, and they do best if the seeds are cold stratified during germination, they will still germinate at warm temps, but I think because of the nearly constant high humidity in Florida the small seedlings are much more prone to damping off because of it.

The trick in Florida is to start in the fall/winter,

These are poppies I grew this past year, probably should have thinned them out...
