Hi says trin
« on: January 17, 2016, 10:34:05 PM »

Hello all! I'm growing some ethnobotanical and other interesting plants here in middle of europe. Some of them are from this region, but after spending quite some time in the amazon (and on borneo), I learned to love these jungle plants too. So I do my best to also grow yage, chacruna & co here  :)
They get the best window places (and at the moment some extra light) and some will return to the balcony or garden again as soon as the temperatures allow it. To help them survive the winter indoors or if they need more humidity I move some of them in my small experimental indoor greenhouse.

Searching through the forums I already found some useful tips on soil, propagation and minimum temperatures for some of my plants, and I'm happy to see so many others that enjoy growing these lovely plants too. In the last years it really helped me a lot to read grow tips in various forums to help the plants in their foreign habitat and to handle the challenges.

So, as my wishlist becomes longer and longer (didn't somebody say those plants aren't addictive?  ;) ), and the pots with seedlings, cuttings and plants (and the bags with seeds) move together closer and closer, I hope for a solution here  ;D

I'll post some pics of my flatmates to the plant gallery soon.
And thanks for this great site!

Hi Trin, I have just joined here in the past few hours.

I've been having issues growing Yage. I kept it in my small greenhouse almost similar to yours and it shot out a small branch and died off immediately. I then tipped it over and it landed on the wall of my greenhouse. The vine ripped up a little but I left it in my greenhouse, it may be dead but does your caapi grow just fine without the fresh air?

Thanks and welcome to the forum. Hopefully we can trade in the future and learn from one another.

Hi nikshaz, welcome here  :)

I hope your caapi will make it. If it isn't damaged too close to the root (and still has some leaves below the rupture), there's a good chance that it will develop new side shoots. It might even heal the rupture, if it's a very small one. But I think to facilitate this it's important to find out the cause for the dying branch in order to give your patient best possible conditions. (light, soil, insects, mold, ..)

I wrote a little about how I handle airing the greenhouse in my indoor garden thread and will add some more info there. I hope you don't mind me just linking there  ;) :
