Acanthus Mollis?
« on: July 22, 2016, 03:22:47 AM »

Hi there members of STS. I have a quick question on whether or not this is acanthus mollis. I pretty much know the answer but thought I'd share this huge bush that has been growing here for years. Anybody ever see it and does anybody here grow it? Any tips or suggestions on what to do with it are appreciated. I'm checking old flowers for viable seeds and if there are any I'll likely post them on a giveaway thread depending on how many I have, and if they are viable. If anybody wants to grow this ask me and I'll be more than happy to send as many as I can. Shipping on me in the mean time. Oh and i am sorry if this is the wrong section, I couldn't find a section on based solely on plant identification. Peace!!

Loox like it
I would gratefully take some seeds if you can salvage any..

Did a search on it, plant known as Bear's breeches or Oyster plant
whatever that means
one of the earliest cultivated plants
Loox super pretty . Hope it don't smell like an oyster

I would love some seed! I was hoping it was Acanthus spinosus. A bit more hardy.

I am looking through dead flowers but cant find any seeds, mabey they fell out. Do they even produce seeds? If so, where would i find such seed pods. I am currently watering it again. Forgive me Acanthus, for all the neglect i have shown you, not no more. You are just soo dang sharp and pointy lol.

It may take time to develop pods. You may have to do pollination yourself. Hopefully it doesn't need another plant to pollinate, of the opposite sex perhaps. I doubt it. Does it appear to have both stamen and stigma?
