Good news dear friends:
An antidote to poisoning by a species of poisonous mushrooms was discovered by researchers at the University of Porto who managed a survival of 100 % in laboratory animals .
The species of mushrooms studied , " Amanita phalloides " , " also known as death hat " , it is abundant in Portugal and has been responsible for 90-95 % of deaths from eating poisonous wild mushrooms , for which until now there was no antidote effective but Portuguese researchers have discovered an antidote and have just published a scientific paper in Toxicology area journal " Archives of Toxicology ."
" It was discovered for the first time a substance ( polymyxin B ) that can function as an antidote ( antivenom ) for poisoning one of the most poisonous wild mushrooms and lethal nature , which is called ' Amanita phaloides '
The importance of this discovery is due to the urgency of "fighting the toxins in these mushrooms , which directly affect the liver and kidneys of intoxicated people
The researchers believe the discovery will be applied in the clinic " within a very short time."
Disclosure at national and international level will allow the use of this drug associated with therapy that is currently established in the poisonings, which proves ineffective.
Polymyxin B is already available in hospital pharmacies , and can be quickly remedied the lack of effective alternatives in an intoxication with high mortality and morbidity
