The earths natural internet
« on: February 14, 2015, 10:19:25 PM »

Lately Ive been interested in mycorrhizal fungi, and the role they play within forests. They're basically merchants or traders moving resources from plant to plant like traders at the CME in Chicago. Apparently they can allow transfer of information and secondary compounds between different plants, even plants of different species. Some researchers think the fungal mats may be aware and conscious entities.

Who else is fascinated by this topic?

Btw, heres a free PDF of the book "mycelium running" by Paul staments.

My dad was on the plane with a guy who works very closely with Paul Staments told me to email him :D Thanks for this pdf!

I had also seen a documentary where they had shown how trees can supply nutrients to their offspring, and they hypothesized (or proved cant remember) that it was through the mushroom network of mycellium
Shows that plants also care about their offspring.

To me it also shows that indigenous people all over the planet were right all along about the consciousness of life forms other than humans.

If now only trees gave wifi, people would plant much more and I could acess STS everywhere, or at least from the places where it matters.  ;D

Wouldn't it be something if the fungal network is running some sort of virtual reality program. That could explain some things. Maybe plants are the power plants that keep the thing running and in exchange they get to operate in the program, living in two world at once.
