Oyster and Reishi grows
« on: September 14, 2020, 08:38:20 PM »

Hi all,

Just thought I'd share a project i currently have on the go.  I'm currently growing both Oyster and Reishi mushrooms.  I pasteurised a sawdust substrate that i sourced from my friend, who is a joiner.  I then added the grain spawn to the substrate in mushroom bags.   Both bags are probably about 30% colonised currently.  I didn't mix the spawn very well through the substrate which may slow colonisation, as I didn't want to risk contamination, which has hampered my grows in the past.  I will hopefully have fruits in the next few weeks. I'm extremely ecited to grow more gourmets in the future! What species would be good?

So how did colonization go? I just started some oysters a couple of weeks ago with some left over log plugs. Used coffee grounds and left over rice in just a Ziploc bag. About half colonized now and dont see any contamination yet.
