Hello!
I'm Gabby from the small suburban Holland Springs Homestead in the beautiful foothills of the Appalachian mountains in Northwest Pennsylvania. My husband turned me on the STS and raved about the generous community.
I have always been most at home in nature. I have made a point to have a garden where home base has been. My family now owns an acre in a rural community where we have happily filled our home with tropical medicinal plants to fulfill our need of green during the snowy months. This year has been my first year planting in successions to extend the time I can utilize my raised bed garden. My love for beautiful plants mixed with delicious food has grown exponentially this summer. (I trained a spaghetti squash to grow on my porch pillers 😎 just cause it looked amazing).
I am new to foraging wild medicine, specifically mushrooms. I have learned a little bit here and there over the last few years and have intentionally sought out specific species this summer with some success!
My focus with cultivating plants is to bring balance and wellness to myself, my son and my husband. Food is medicine. Food security is important. Being one with our Mother Earth is dear and near to my heart and soul.
I could go on and on about why gardening and being in nature brings life to me, but maybe that's for another thread.
Thanks for reading.
Much love,
Gabby
