Health of Plants with Indoor versus Outdoor Germination
« on: December 17, 2014, 07:01:14 PM »

Is there an overall difference in the long term health of plants when the seeds are sowed indoors versus outdoors? Outside of species with specific requirements one way or the other, transplant issues, etc, of course.

I've noticed that I get better germination rates with indoor germination, but the plants sowed outdoors seem to have better long-term resilience. Problem is I don't have a very big sample size and have never experimented with a control group, so usually all of one batch/species are germinated in the same condition so there's no real conclusion to make from my experience.

Maybe the better germination rates indoors in a controlled environment allows some weaker specimens to germinate that wouldn't have outdoors?
