Title: found this interesting

Seeing as there isn't too many threads in here I though I'd put this out there.

1. I was a supporter of "single payer"- insurance for all citizens.

2. The Koch Brothers are strongly funding disinformation/misinformation campaigns about the Affordable Care Act. (This smells a lot like the Broccoli Police talking point)

3. My unemployed unhealthy father is now signed up to get this insurance starting Jan. 1 (he has not seen a doctor in over 20 years).

4. "Obamacare" was thought up previously by the Heritage Foundation- a right wing think tank that was started with a large monetary donation from the Koch Brothers. Now that a Democratic President has passed something very similar, they are attacking the idea.

5. The most loud voices against the ACA with political power are the House Republicans, many of which align with the "TEA party" <--- funded by the Koch Brothers through "Americans for Prosperity", which they started. (I recommend watching The Billionaires Tea Party documectary, Koch Brother's Exposed, and United States of ALEC). [TEA party meant taxed enough already, and they focus on lowering taxes of millionaires/billionaires]

* me says "Government doesn't work; government IS the problem; doesn't create jobs- elect me and I'll prove it." jk

There's a ton of stuff hidden in that bill. I don't subscribe to being a  "republican" or "democrat" I think it's just a distraction from the truth of it all, but I really don't like some of the stuff that's in this bill. More and more personal rights are being stripped away, and it's both parties that are doing it. It sucks.

The right to die because you are too poor to afford health insurance is the only thing I know of that is being attempted to strip away.

The ACA IS a big Fascist gift to the insurance companies (not socialist gift to poor people)- who can still charge lots of $. I have seen lots of things claimed, then walked back by those against it. I don't think it is good enough (or leftist enough), but I do think it is a good step in the proper direction.

This (I assume) is an attempt at getting as few people as possible to sign up- raising the costs.

I'll let you all know if they try to come search my house due to my dad having Obamacare.

* I am concerned about the risks about our food supply in America. I watched something named A River of Waste: The Hazardous Truth About Factory Farms - It said chickens have arsenic in their feces, due to being fed Roxarsone- due to parasites (and that was a serious cancer risk for neighboring schoolchildren of any place that uses chicken manure as fertilizer); also said 95% American antibiotics were used in/by factory farms.

I didn't say i don't like free health care. I would like a health care system that allowed low income people access to it. I've been in the same boat with not having health care. I just don't like this bill. It's not just health care imo. If you look at all the other bills that have been passed during the reign of the last couple presidents and the bull shit that's hidden in it, you'd probably realize that they aren't always what they seem.  You really should take a look at what's been going on more closely because a lot of fucked up things have been passed in these giant bills that are not right and that violate our personal freedoms.

Anyways, i understand where you're coming from. Anyways, This probably isn't the best place for a political discussion.

I have. I am very informed on nationwide level politics; I know which parts of each thing I disagree with...
I'll let you all publicly know any rights of my dad's that are taken away due to his newly acquired health insurance. My mom's insurance cost for emergency room visits is going up to $50, but the reason the cost is going up is because the trend of average cost of health care has been going up for some time. (nothing in the ACA says the insurace companies cannot charge unreasonable costs because they decide to). Besides my dad may live to see his 60s with this- and improvements can be made where needed.

Is any place a good place for a political discussion/social policy/public policy discussion; the topic was brought up under announcenents and news... and not by me.

I consider myself an Independent Progressive with limited options in the voting booth who disagrees with certain aspects of different things.

That said, I respect all of our members, including you.

I rarely vote for any representatives. I vote mostly on direct bills.  I don't trust the horrid POS "public servants" that run for office. None of them are looking out for any of us. They just want to line their pockets.

"According to Oregon water laws, all water is publicly owned. Therefore, anyone who wants to store any type of water on their property must first obtain a permit from state water managers."

and

"They issued me my permits. I had my permits in hand and they retracted them just arbitrarily, basically. They took them back and said ‘No, you can’t have them,’ so I’ve been fighting it ever since,' Harrington told CNSNews.com."

and

“Way back in 1925 the city of Medford got a unique withdrawal that withdrew all -- supposedly all -- the water out of a single basin and supposedly for the benefit of the city of Medford,” Harrington told CNSNews.com.

^ That started a legal excuse to charge people money under State law; construed legal excuse. (A good reason to try to change who votes on things)

"Harrington told CNSNews.com, however, that the 1925 law doesn’t mention anything about colleting rainwater or snow melt -- and he believes that he has been falsely accused. “The withdrawal said the stream and its tributaries. It didn’t mention anything about rainwater and it didn’t mention anything about snow melt and it didn’t mention anything about diffused water, but yet now, they’re trying to expand that to include that rain water and they’re using me as the goat to do it”

That sounds like the combination of a likely personal dispute and state laws that were designed to protect their cities- but being construed by cities, cops, prosecutors, and judges to charge people money under the authority of police.

I will be going to see US Senator Bernie Sanders Independent from Vermont (free to the public) on Thursday Oct. 17. at 5:30-7:30PM at the University of Alabama Birmingham campus (Cudworth Building Auditorium 1st floor; 1919 University BLVD Birmingham, Alabama.)

I watched his 8.5 hour filibuster named "The Speech: A Historic Filibuster on Corporate Greed and the Decline of Our Middle Class" that held up the 2010 Obama extension of the Bush Tax Cuts.

He really is the people's Senator.

There are only 2 problems with the health care act for me. One - if i am in the states for longer than 30 days in any given year I am required to purchase health insurance or receive a fine. The insurance must be for the full year and would not cover me abroad. This is required regardless of my recognized residency abroad.
Two - The opt out option is not quite a opt out. It is a yearly fine that is imposed by the IRS. If for some reason the fine is not paid, by IRS standards they can apply late charges. If the fine and late charges compound for 3 years or more then the IRS has the directive to treat them like any other debt owed to them, i.e. property and asset seizure.

Now the last point has been rarely spoken about in the main stream media and when it is they just brush it aside with lies. Something like ¨Well, technically the IRS could go that route BUT we don´t imagine they will do such a thing with regards to health care fine.¨

It makes me wonder how long it will be before they start to use this very flawed system to persecute those that don´t tow the governmental party line. Please don´t get me wrong, i am 100% for universal health care. I am not for a so called universal health care that is ran by and for private corporations.  For all it´s flaws the NHS in the UK is far superior than the Affordable Health Care Act, there it is funded by taxes that are paid to the government, not corporations.

I was watching last night's Ring of Fire (with Mike Papantonio). 10/16/13. https://www.aclu.org/national-security/unleashed-and-unaccountable-fbis-unchecked-abuse-authority (https://www.aclu.org/national-security/unleashed-and-unaccountable-fbis-unchecked-abuse-authority)

He had Robert Kennedy Jr. on there talking about the ACLU's September 2013 Report Unleashed and Unaccountable: The FBI's Unchecked Abuse of Authority. The FBI has been collecting the metadata from citizens vehicle's GPS, and phone GPS (and calls, texts etc.) and forming profiles on people to determine if they are 6 levels away from someone deemed dangerous. [that info is actually sent to Israel to spy on US and then Israel selectively reports back what they have found]

They were talking about how they were focusing their efforts on making environmental activists, Civil Rights leaders, etc seem like terrororists; and ignoring the terrorist-like nature of some Anti-Abortion activists who have been utilizing explosives, etc.

They specifically mentioned that they were compiling maps of where people of various ethnicities were living, and who they were contacting. There was a FBI operation with the end goal of having MLK commit suicide.

The FBI justification for spying on that stuff recently is that "some members of the Black Panther Party had utilized explosives back in the 1960's." <-- Glad I've watched Cointelpro 101, so I've seen more of the story and I know the FBI did pay a man to do a bombing, and then they blamed another man.

Robert Kennedy Jr. also said (on Ring Of Fire) that the phone/communications companies are being payed big $ to send the spying information (metadata) to the government.

Pretty scary info there seed collector. So I assume all us here in the states on forums like this are being monitored without our knowledge. Definitely was aware already but all that physically coming out on record recently really puts a sour feeling in your gut. Not like any of us here are really doing anything bad and we are only exercising a human right ...growing plants like humans always have freely without constriction. No one intends to do any harm or actually use any of these plants.  They are just too fascinating too not grow and preserve because of historical, cultural, religious, and aesthetic qualities as sacred plant collectors. Right guys?

It shouldn't matter what we plan to do or what we're not planning on doing with these plants, yes we should respect the rules of this forum and disallow ourselves from discussions of the use/consumption of these plants, but in reality, I should not have to need permission from a government to be able to do what I want with plants so long as it causes no harm to others. It's my life I have right to do what I see fit with it.

To get back on the original topic... I do not believe Obamacare is the answer to anything, it's far too long and confusing and is nothing more than a waste of time and energy. If these "forced entries" are in fact true, I don't believe they are constitutional, maybe if these 'home inspections' were voluntary that would be more acceptable, but forcing people to allow strangers into their homes on the grounds of "health home visits" is just a sham, it leaves too many opportunities to abuse that power.

Also, please keep it reasonable and civil if the discussion goes on.

A few other things of interest to look into...

The Denver international airport conspiracy

 The Georgia guide stones

The new hundred dollar bill conspiracy

I know none of this pertains to plants...but as enlightened individuals who made it here because of plants other things must be known in order to stop our beloveds from going extinct. Idk if any of these are true...just intriguing and scary...

I don't like to rain on anyone's parade, believe me, but CTs are a spiny and potentially conflictive off-topic matter, even when they are declared as such (which is regardless more honest than dressing them as fact, for as long as they are still disputed).

Whenever anyone wants to raise awareness about anything, just try to bring good quality information and make your points. Particularly if they are related to STS community interests. I don't think anyone in the staff will frown upon relevant information, for as long as we make the step to cross from theory to factual information.

Kind regards,

Mandrake
