Title: Salvia Identification
Post by: AsiansArentReal on April 23, 2017, 09:02:52 PM
Hello all! I went to a festival today and a guy had this salvia plant just out for $3 and said he didn't know where it came from, sooooo bought that and a few more plants for around the house. But I am not experienced in identifying plants and especially this plant. Can anyone offer any insight as to which species it is?
Much thanks! If more pictures and close ups are needed just let me know :D

All in all it looks like Salvia but thats a large genus and needs some time to ID. Most salviaea have purely aesthetic value.

It is not Sally D. Just in case its that what you mean. Its not Officinalis either. So maybe a nice ornamental.

Ok thank you! Yeah I did just want to know if it was sal. D or not, but if it's just an ornamental that's great too! Always need more of those!

I once had the idea to expand my collection genus by genus and wanted to tackle a few, amongst them salviaea ... i made a taxonomic tree to get an overview ... nope, no way to maintain them all :D
