Got a few small shoots of aloe from a friend yesterday and having a hard time naming it
The plants are small and i couldnt get a good image of them but this picture is identicle to mine only a lot larger
If anyone knows what the name of this is i would greatly appreciate it
Im almost 100%sure that the genus is Aloe
Im not sure but i think the species is Vera
I have no clue what the strain or variety is

I have the same one and am led to believe its the true Aloe vera.
"Aloe vera var. chinensis".
Mine is from a patch on a local farm that was originally used back in the day for cosmetics etc and its absolutely identical to that.

I literally just got a lil one like an hour ago from a neighbor, idk if a pup would be the right term for a succulent??
Like 3 inches tall,and looks very similar to the above!

It looks like vera to me for sure. I wouldn't know the culvtivar/variation though.

Its really hot and dry, they are growing in gravel in full sun, so mine are all sad looking, sun burnt, and thin from dehydration.
But you get the idea.
They did look a lot better when I got them, like a lot of things here.....

My aloe does way better inside with low light than when i had it outside in full sun.

Bathroom window is the go, and handy too cos if you cut yourself you always go to the bathroom to wash the wound.
Unfortunately I'm not allowed ANY plants in the house anymore.
Mrs put the foot down as it got a bit ridiculous for a while here.

Lol that sucks but understandable - maby you could get her to agree to a small indoor corner in the back of the house for just a few plants... that way its not a jungle and she dosent have to look at them all the time

Nah, I have to admit, she has a valid point.
We only have a one bedroom house, with combined kitchen/lounge room and laundry/bathroom, and now its off limits inside.
BUT, I have the whole double garage, the whole balcony front and back(its a Queenslander on stilts), plus the greenhouse 30mX2.5m, and the hothouse and every bit of flat land is being used by me....
Cant be too greedy. ;D

My baby aloe plants under my light are dark red and the middle new leaves are green. I think they are sunburned. :(

Haha thanks for starting my Sunday with a great belly chuckle fairdinkum ;D Sounds like you came up against a force of nature. Always best to swim with the current ;)
Don't worry Sunshine, your babies will heal with time. I've found it takes a while to learn to speak the aloe language. NW is right - indirect sunlight indoors is where they usually do best.

I'm sure she could settle for a few hundred aloe growing in your room. ;)

Take them away from the light. Put them near a window. They thrive that way i've noticed.

There are no windows.

No windows in an entire house. WTF Lol. Do you live in a cave or something man?

That's what my mom calls it; 'The Cave' lol
Technically there are windows but the ones in the front are completely covered with plastic and thick shades which I can't open because they are facing a main road/sidewalks and people like to peek in. Not to mention I live across the street from a homeless/mentally unstable institution housing of which which the residents are allowed to roam freely. I also live in a neighborhood where there are a lot of crack cocaine users. So those windows need to be light tight. We've been robbed before, despite the windows being non-see through. Its best none of the inside light can get out so they don't know when we are home.
The windows at the back of the house are also covered in plastic. They go into the back porch which is boarded up. Even if it wasn't, those windows have shelves and are used for food. The back porch isn't heated so they can't be put out there either.
So yeah, there are no windows. lol
I've set the 2 aloe plants I have off to the side of the light in the hope that they will recover.

They should recover. They seem to like indirect light rather than direct.
