I'm learning Spanish and Huichol (an indigenous Mexican language). I have such a fascination with Mexican culture...

Which method are you using? Taking classes or listening to recordings. I have dabbled in many languages but am fluent only in English. And some would say, not even English! :)

Spanish I'm taking a class and Huichol I'm studying by myself.

I like to learn about different languages and cultures too. Trouble is, I hardly ever have to use any of it so I don't get any real practice. Pretty nice to have some understanding though.

Been teaching myself Chinese for a while. 我会说一点儿普通话。Spanish is next.

I had mandatory Spanish classes in elementary, terrible teaching style don't remember anything. I had ~4 years of German classes in high school, had a 3 week trip to Germany with the language class, got really good, now it's been so many years with no one fluent around me I forgot all but the basics...

like anything, if you don't use it. It's tough to get regular practice with most languages in the US. Probably the only exception is Spanish, and that depends on where you live.

Made a nice new compound word today, Kampfbegriffgewitter :D Yes I do speak a foreign language, english it is ;)

I speak a few. You have to practice to get better or to remain fluent. Classes are of limited benefit, usually the students listen to the teacher and have maybe 2 minutes to speak. Try meetup groups in your are that work with a language you want to learn or practice.
