I was recommended to this forum by a friend on another forum.
I am very excited to get to know you all and look forward to exchanging our knowledge and experience.
My specialty is cacti and anything unusual or out of the ordinary. I will try to grow anything at least once or sometimes multiple times until I can get it to survive. I love a good growing challange. Growing plants far outside their natural range amuses me and hones in my botany skills.
I am currently attending college and nearly have my associates degree. I am going for a bachelors in Botany with a possible minor in chemistry. I am taking a Plant Kingdom course this fall and I can hardly wait!
I have an uncontrollable lust for knowledge and tend to dabble in many realms of science including: botany, chemistry, astronomy, geology, meteorology, ecology, physics, ethbobotany, herpitology and philosophy among others.
I love to engage in intellectual conversations with people who share similar interests as myself and can take either side at a moments notice.
Anyway, I'm glad to be a part of the STS community and hope you all feel the same!

Welcome to STS! :)

Welcome! Glad you made it over here. That was me :)
I'm looking forward to your posts. Earth sciences i something I haven't really delved deeply into. You seem to have already started.
Enjoy the ride!

Thanks everyone!
Spore head, thanks for showing me this forum. I think I will really enjoy it.
I haven't delved too deeply in them either, but I try to get myself informed about the basics so I can keep up with everyone else. I feel that it's good to be well rounded in as many subjects as possible. Keeping your doors open to all forms of ideas and information allows you to find links between the sciences and strengthen your knowledge.

Yay!!! Another cactus enthusiast. Welcome to STS!!!
Are there any nice cacti species you can collect out there? You are in a great location for cacti. I'd love to trade with you if you can find any wild seeds or specimen.

I can most definitely do some seed trading once I have full member access.
I am not 100% sure I can take cuttings/divisions from certain plants, but as far as I know, seeds are fair game.
I have some plants/seeds available for trade, most are wild seed grown or nursery/online purchased. Check out my profile for my share and wish lists. I do have others that aren't listed however. What specificly are you interested in?
-
I see you have Basalaris I'm looking for some cuttings of that! Can't wait to trade with you once you're a member

I'd be glad to trade some!

Thanks everyone!
Chamomeleon, thank you for the offer to enter your giveaway. But i am only able to receive pms and not accept them currently.
What are you giving away? I might be interested.

Pretty much veggie seeds. Beets, radishes, corn, pumpkins, cabbages, buckwheat, tomatillos, sunflowers, and cilantro.
-
I will pass on that as i am borrowing garden space from my family members for the few veggies i already have. Living in an apartment is tough for that sort of thing. Thank you very much for the offer though! :)

Greetings, I look forward to growing and sharing with you.

Yeah, harvesting wild cacti is usually illegal and kind of immoral, but seeds are good or plants grown from wild seed.
I love all cacti equally. Do you know what genera or species typically grow out in your area?

Hey I'm new here too and have a budding passion for cacti hopefully in the future we can do some trades.
