Title: Random Pieces of Advice
Post by: Radium on July 09, 2015, 01:39:32 PM
Let's post those tiny pieces of experience/knowledge that don't require a dedicated topic of its own.

For readability purposes, let's write a title sentence and make it bold, then go ahead and write any more descriptive stuff you like.

###############################################################

NEVER EVER give pure urine to Mucuna pruriens.

So that day I decided to give a shot of aged concentrated morning pee (I save some of my urine, and also changed motor oil) to some of my plants (only those who germinate easily, you know why) and see what happens.
Tomorrow I did give them another shot,
Suddenly some plants began to shoot new leaf here and there and got a growth boom (peppers, mints).
But poor Mucuna pruriens was not so lucky, she is really sick now, with dying leaves everywhere, I keep flushing her soil but I see no improvement.

So today's lesson:
Dilute it or it will delete it :)

#########################################

Squirting anaerobic compost bottle.

I dissolved lots of my shit in my urine and poured it into a big coke PET bottle.
It was doing well, and every other day I loosen the cap to let pressure drop,
Until that day I dropped some sliced wrinkled old cucumbers inside it.
Two days later I came to loosen the cap and BOOOM, shitty yellow foam squirted with pressure everywhere like those party drink bottles people spray. What made me more shocked was that a swarm of big fat buzzing flies came to there under 30 seconds.
Where the fuck are those things before there's any mess around? I don't see them anywhere before something messy is present, it looks like they are getting summoned from another dimension.

Wait ? You give your plant spent motor oil and piss ... and a bit later ypu discover we could benefit from the advice to not piss on our plants after we fed them a full motor oil exchange ? Yeah I too suspect its in the combination ... ahh... as far as our plants is Mucuna P, research on other plants is still ongoin...
Its like icecubes, i never use them as my research shows: whisky and icecubes -> bad liver ,vodka and icecubes -> bad liver f, brand and icecubes -> bad liver, aqua vit & icecubes -> bad liver ... those god damn icecubes should have warnings on them

;D

Wait a minute.
I don't feed the oil to the plants.
I use it as furnace fuel.

Would human waste be safe to feed to plants  :o? We eat a lot of spunky stuff, after all.

If your diet is too toxic to feed to plants your going to eat isnt that a good indication that its too toxic to eat in the first place?

I eat the plants and the plants eat me, its a nice cycle. Neither of us eat snickers bars or cheezy poofz.

No one could say it better than this!

Like all other shit, human shit is not bad for plants at all, it just might burn some of plants if it's fresh.
But the real concern in advising against using human shit, is the risk of spreading human diseases.

Take these notes from me:
Taenasis:
Adult tapeworm is attached inside your intestines and is yumming on the food you eat, and lay eggs in your shit.
Taeniasis is aquired from eating meat infected with tapeworm larvae.

Cysticercosis:
The eggs in the shit gets rubbed on the plants, and then eaten by cows, or YOU, then they hatch inside you, and start to chew and feed on your FLESH, sometimes even your eyeballs and BRAIN!
But don't worry, as a bonus, any bastard cannibal who decides to eat you will catch Taeniasis, and thus won't be able to enjoy the delight of giving his/her own shit to his/her plants anymore.

So if you eat lots of semi-cooked meat, or just paranoid that you might have Taeniasis, please please please do yourself a favor and just flush your shit down the hole.
Trust me, you don't want to get Cysticercosis, it's nasty stuff :)

Reading the 104 year old agronomy travelogue Farmers of Forty Centuries: Or, Permanent Agriculture in China, Korea, and Japan one thing that made me squirm at first was the repeated description of how they would fertilize with uncomposted human waste brought in from the towns and cities. The author eventually gave in and specified: the reason the chinese did not suffer epidemics of disease from this practice was... they cooked all their food ;D Great low tech solution. Composting is still ideal tho.

Random piece of advice, read that book.
[Complete, fully illustrated copy] (https://books.google.com/books?id=FYkVAAAAYAAJ&pg=PAi#v=onepage&q&f=false)
It describes in fairly good detail a highly productive and efficient system of agronomy at a time when the first industrial revolution was still being implemented and internal combustion had not yet radically altered farming. I got a lot of good ideas from that book.

The title of this thread should be Human Manure.
