Well, I did the hot water soak for M. tenuiflora, D. leptolobus, and D. illinoiensis. After swelling they went into starting mix under lights with a heat mat below.
60% germ on the Mimosa,
50% germ on D leptolobus
0% germ on D illinoiensis
Those that have sprouted are working on their 2nd set of true leaves.
I am working on borrowing a camera for some pics of these guys and all the other babies that are doing so well thanks to this community.

Have now had 2 Desmanthus lept sprout after being stuck in the ground after the soak...

If you want some Desmanthus Illi. to try again i have 40-50k from last summers harvest
-
That would be great!
I have sprouted about 15 Desmanthus l, they are all doing well & are past the seedling stage, got true leaves.
5 Mimosas are at the same point. They are all out in full sun in the garden getting watared & fertilized pretty heavy & seem to love it.

Why is your D.illinoensis germ rate so low?
I had nearly 100% germ rate with them.
Although I repotted them too soon, and out of 10 seedlings, only 1 is alive now :(
I must grow more.

Don't know, old seed?
I treated them just the same as the D. leptolobus & M. tenuiflora & both of those germinated for me pretty easily.
Luckily AcaciaAve gifted a year old D. illinoensis so I have the plant around, I would still love to get some seeds going to start planting them out in abandoned places...

Sent you some desmanthus leptolobus in your incoming package. A smaller variety than the Illinois bundle flower. Will die back for months at a time but comes back toward the beginning of summer if you leave them be.

Awesome, sounds like an invasive species perfect for guerrilla farming ;D
BTW my D.illinoensis just set her first real leaves.
I guess D.illinoensis would be perfect for making a bonsai, what do you think?
