Title: trichocereus pachanoi crested issue
Post by: marshmellow on February 15, 2015, 04:36:32 AM
Not sure but it makes me worry that it may be rotting from inside. Temps in my green house have been up and down  but cold mostly and my back up heater cramped out on me about a month ago so it got in the 20s for one night.  Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Looks to me like normal scaring that some clones of trichocereus seem to get for no apparent reason.  If it isn't soft or mushy then you don't have to worry.   Is it soft?

Thanks No its not soft, it worried me because its right in center of crest isn't that the same as the tip of a normal trich

Yes, it's a growth apex, but the good thing about crests is it's not just one little point of growth. I've seen crests abort entire sections and just continue growing at the other growth points.   Although one thing I notice about it is that it doesn't look like it's actively growing. It looks dormant. Are you still watering it?

for sure. I bet you once spring comes it'll wake up and start growing.

Good luck!
