Title: After long absence
Post by: Johnny B Goode on December 25, 2014, 04:40:45 AM
Having seen many of these forums come and go, and being away myself for over a decade, I was suprised to stumble across this place. I was looking for info on Tetrapterys methysica, which I came across in Wade Davis' The Lost Amazon, as I sit at home with influenza. Having met Wade a couple of times as well as his mentor Richard Evan Schultes many years ago, I now realize how fortunate I was to be among a generation who did know this greatest of all ethnobotanists.
Anyway, I've traveled a lot and grown many many of these plants over the years, having managed to save a few through several moves. I will have to dig through my seeds, but I imagine some are still viable. I know the seeds from the Hyoscamus alba I grew a decade ago should still be viable, as I grew them from seeds >20 years old.
Most of my photos are pre-digital age so will take some time to find (and scan). Maybe someone will find useful.
Here's a teaser... Turbinicarpus schmiedickianus
