Title: Happy to be here
Post by: Cubism on February 03, 2014, 02:06:58 PM
Hey everyone

So happy to have stumbled on such an informative and beneficial community.

Am fairly new to the amazing benefits of the many plants surrounding us.  Came across ethnobotanicals whilst looking for alternatives to SSRI's, benzos and other medications that I had beentaking for years.  Around 13 years or so actually, but not any more!!!!  With each new piece of information I came across, I found myself even more fascinated, and soon became hooked.

My interests are pretty broad, as I am still very much in the stage of soaking up so much information.  I'm interested in plants of traditional medicinal value (both mentally and physically), historically important plants, interesting vegetables (as opposed to the bland stuff available in most shops), and of course the "spiritually" interesting entheogens, oneirogens etc.

Anyway, super pleased to be here and looking forward to expanding my knowledge exponentially.

Thanks for having me

It's nice that people can get interested in plants because they have pharmacologic value. Personally, my whole plant obsession was sparked by the discovery of cannabis years ago, which just led into the love of more and more plants. They each have their own personality. These days I don't even consume cannabis regularly at all, but my love of gardening my own food and medicine is very strong!

Good to have you around Cube!

On the topic of antidepressant/antianxiety plants, have you found any good ones?
I'm getting some Baikal skullcap seeds soon, pretty excited to see this one. St. John's Wort is a powerful choice. Caapi in small amounts is equally powerful, in a different way. And we all know about kava  8)

Hey, I want to second that about kava.  If you use root powder, and chew it or make a good warm (not hot) tea out of it you can get pretty legit non-placebo effects and some of the kavalactones are similar to benzos in action, but not as addictive, and they don't affect cognition I believe.  They primarily affect GABA receptors I believe.

Welcome Cubism,

My interests are pretty broad, as I am still very much in the stage of soaking up so much information.  I'm interested in plants of traditional medicinal value (both mentally and physically), historically important plants, interesting vegetables (as opposed to the bland stuff available in most shops), and of course the "spiritually" interesting entheogens, oneirogens etc.

Thanks for sharing your interests. Look forward to hearing and seeing how these develop.

Regards

Cloud
