Germination of cebil and yopo
« on: July 24, 2015, 01:51:36 AM »

Whats ideal moisture for these to germinate? World seed supply guide is good but doesnt say moisture level. Only to be careful. I surface sowed on suitable soil in open air. Humidity cover?

just keep the soil moisture, it is enough.
Anadenanthera grows in many different conditions, from wet forest to near desert climate.

When I grew them I soaked until they swelled (but not excessively) and then I got a paper towel wet, wrung it most the way out, placed the seeds inside the paper towel and put it in a container. If the seeds are any good they should sprout in 2 days to a week. I then transferred the sprouting seeds to moist potting soil.

I started both yopo and cebil today, and I just put them on moist soil.  I may eventually try using a humidity top/ dome, but I like to try the simple method first  :)

But had ears and a tail, and ate grass.

I've covered my seed tray lightly with a piece of saran wrap. Some have molded and nearly all have split and cracked. A lot look healthy but show no signs of germination yet.
