Camilia Sinensis(Tea Plant) Germination
« on: December 16, 2016, 06:48:26 AM »

Thinking about buying some Tea seeds and was wondering what are good techniques for germinating from seed as well as how long it takes?

It definitely takes a few weeks to see them start cracking and sprouting. I put them pretty close to the surface and placed them inside of a humidity chamber when I sprouted mine. I don't think the humidity chamber is a must but will help.

Hello Mad planter, for the humidity chamber what is the ideal relative humidity and could it be similar to the humidity that kratom likes, if so greenwhale I will come over this weekend and help you set up a humidity chamber that i used to root the kratom its super tight and keeps the water from going bad!

Yes, the secret to germinate this type of seeds is high humidity, check this tek:

Sorry didn't see your reply! As Roze stated definitely high humidity but I did not measure my chamber. I just use clear plastic boxes. If I recall right it does take at least a month or better to start sprouting. I usually don't keep track of such things. Wing it by instinct coupled with a little research and usually get most things rocking pretty ease.
