Title: Important Tutorials that have helped me.
Post by: acuminatahoarder on December 22, 2013, 10:24:22 AM
Just sharing my mushroom cultivation process for all those wanting to get into it. i can understand the amount of teks and information on the net can be overwhelming, so i'll make a start to end compilation for you which id also extremely fast due to thr incorporation of liquid culture.

1. acquire spore sprint and sterilized syringe with needle.
if you are starting out then you most likely won't have a glove box or a contaminant free environment to work with so use this tutorial to make your spore syringe which has you do everything inside a zip lock bag.

2. create a liquid culture jar with self healing lid which allows air exchange.

3. create liquid culture by using this eeaaasy ten now that you have your self healing lid.

4. . step is to build a TiT (tub in tub) incubator like the one in the pictorial here in this forum, that tutorial is fine so go ahead and use that to incubate your liquid culture

5. create some PF trek jar with this tek except when it comes to inoculation use syringes full of your liquid culture (wait at least 7 days before using your LC)

6. although the last tutorial covers it briefly I reccomend building a fully automatic terrarium, which may seem expensive but is definitely worth the extra $ effort. this is a great tutorial.

and there you have it.

will link some non-essential but very useful teks soon.

Thank you for the tutorials. Perhaps we could expand this thread a bit and add more links for mushroom tutorials. What would interest me the most at the moment are successful substrate mixes (for fruiting) and preparations for different species. If anyone knows of good links for this, I would be very greatful.

As for automatic fruiting chambers, I've had my own and it's great, but recently I've been thinking on going low-tek or at least low-energy, so I'm trying to figure out if I could get something like this running on solar or wind-power alone (in a cost effective manner)  - if one had the space for that. If I ever get around to it, I will post my findings. For now I am still in the dreaming phase, since I have no place to grow atm.
