Got any use for Pistachio shells in gardening?

I have 7kg of Pistachio empty shells that I've collected over 3 years.
Is it a good idea to use them as drainage medium at the bottom of the pots under the soil for cactus?
Or is there any other use I'm not aware of?

You can use it as an aerator in the soil, like perlite.

Crushed? or untouched?

BTW, would it decompose after some years and cause problems for the cacti?

Whole would probably be best for aeration.

As for them decomposing, everything I've read says they take a very long time to decompose, even when crushed and composted.  So you should be safe there.
