A great article on rare fruits
« on: March 19, 2015, 09:19:43 PM »

Finally a good pick me up! Finally got my fix for wanting to know about some more exotic fruits to grow. I love food diversity and want to try all of the Creator's great marvels.

Starts with wild African fruits but gets in depth comparing wild fruits against cultivated species. Awesome stuff! If you can't tell I'm a plant geek...I guess that's why I'm here.

Thanks for sharing MadPlanter! A fun read. have recently been made aware of all kinds of fruits I never knew of before. The annona family is really interesting and tasty. Since we can't grow many good apples and pears down here, it is nice to find some excellent tropical alternatives.

Just tried my first sweetsop recently. Was surprised at how good it tasted. This was a relief, as I am growing other annonas, including soursop, pineapple annona, and atemoya. Probably going to try out a biriba as well. Haven't tasted any of them yet, haha! Think I'm going to be okay.

The soursop (guanabana) has many medicinal benefits in practically all parts of the tree. They probably all have annonins.

Oh man, I read the article, and now I am so hungry!  Maybe one day I'll be able to get my hands on some of those...

It was not round and pink

They're not hard to find in south fl. Nice sized plants, and they fruit early, many in containers. I have some sweetsop seeds, could spare some chamomeleon if you wanna give it a go. lmk
