So, i planted 50 more l. alberto seeds and the first one to germinate had twins! Two seedlings in one little shell.
Here are some pictures! What do you think of this. Awesome right?
-
NW, that's awesome!
Maybe you'll get a 105% germination rate? :o
What medium are you using? Its awesome that you can see each individual seed.

I use 80/20 fine sand/worm castings, but I put a thin layer of white sand on top that is a little coarser than the fine sand for looks and stability of the seedlings.
-
They're standing up now. :) Trying to think of names for them. I was thinking like Terrance and Phillip or Alberto and Vojtech. I need to think it over.
-
They will be named Jabba and Hutt. :D
-
I was gonna say castor and pollux :)
-
Somebody else recommended that as well! Lol!

Awesome indeed. I've seen a couple of seeds give 2 plants before. [not cacti]

When I saw the plant twins, I had not used any vitamin C on my seeds.
-
Yeah, I bought these seeds, but I don't think the person used vit c to induce this. The seeds were all very fat and healthy looking though.
-
Are they conjoined twins?(Legit question)
-
It almost looks like they share 1 root system, but I think they're just way tangled up. Too tangled to pull apart.
-
Turns out they are just twins, not conjoined. I changed their names to Castor and Pollux like nobody and a few others recommended.
-
Well, the twins killed each other. I think the roots grew into each other and caused rot one to rot. Then the rot spread to the other one and killed it. So, Castor killed Pollux and Pollux's rotting body caused Castor's body to rot. Pretty brutal death for them.
-
Sounds like twins!!
Hehe
That sucks that they died though :(
-
Yeah. Well I know now that next time I have to separate them when they first pop out before the roots get super tangled up.
-
I have had twin alberto seedlings too .. I called mine Julius and Vincent (Arnie and Danny) because one was much larger than the other .. True twins from one seed .. each plant with separate body and root
